Material is a time-tracking app for property owners. We are committed to being transparent about what data we collect, why, and where it goes. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads.
Voice recordings. When you tap the record button, your device records audio. That audio is transcribed on-device using your device’s built-in speech recognition. The resulting text transcript is sent to our API where it is processed by a third-party AI service to extract structured activity information such as date, duration, category, and notes. The audio file is deleted immediately after transcription and is never transmitted or stored.
Activity logs. The entries you save — including title, category, duration, work date, notes, and property — are stored on your device and synced to your private iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
Property information. Property names, addresses, and types you enter are stored on your device and in your private iCloud account. We do not have access to this data.
Feedback. If you choose to send feedback through the app, your voice message is transcribed on-device and that transcript is sent to us along with your app version. If you optionally provide an email address so we can follow up, that email is stored alongside your feedback. Feedback data is stored securely and used solely to improve the app.
Subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store payment information.
We use third-party services for AI processing of voice transcripts, secure data storage, and API hosting. These services receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function. Your activity logs and property data are synced via Apple’s iCloud infrastructure and are not accessible to us. Subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple.
Your activity data lives on your device and in your iCloud account — you control it entirely. Deleting the app removes it from your device; you can manage iCloud data in your device Settings. Feedback transcripts and any associated email addresses are retained as long as necessary to improve the app. We do not retain copies of activity log transcripts on our servers.
Material is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
We reserve the right to update this policy at any time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
